RENTAL AGREEMENT
All amounts stated in UAE Dirham (AED).
In case of an accident the hirer is responsible for the accident penalty, being the excess amount of insurance coverage. The excess amount depends on the value of the vehicle. In addition, the daily rent will be charged until the vehicle repair is complete. In the case of total loss (damage beyond economic repair) the hirer agrees to pay the company 30% of the total insured value of the vehicle, in addition to the accident penalty. All vehicles carry comprehensive insurance as required under UAE law. A police report is mandatory for all accidents.
The vehicle is for use within the UAE only. If an accident occurs outside UAE jurisdiction, the hirer is fully responsible for repair costs charged by the service agency, plus the rental loss for the duration of the repair.
Where the driver is aged between 21 and 25, the hirer pays 10% of the claim amount in addition to the excess. Insurance cover applies only to drivers over 21 years of age holding a driving license issued more than six months prior. A driver falling outside these conditions is liable for all repair costs, including the daily rent of the vehicle until it is repaired and available for rent again.
A service charge of AED 10 is applied to each fine or penalty imposed by the RTA, police, municipality or any other competent authority during the hire period. Salik road tolls are charged at AED 5 per crossing. Where no prior agreement exists for a weekly or monthly rate, charges are calculated at the daily rate.
If an accident occurs while the driver is under the influence of alcohol or any substance having a comparable effect, the driver is liable for full compensation for all loss and damage to the vehicle, and bears sole responsibility before the official authorities.
The hirer must inform us immediately of any technical or mechanical fault. The hirer may not carry out repairs to the vehicle. The hirer is responsible for returning the vehicle in the same condition in which it was rented. Where a mechanical or technical fault results from the hirer’s misuse, the hirer pays for agency repair plus the daily rental for each day until the repair is complete.
The vehicle must not be used for off-road driving, races, rallies or competitions; the hirer is responsible for any penalties and damage arising from such use. The vehicle may not be subleased, and may be driven only by the hirer or a registered additional driver. The hirer agrees not to use the vehicle to transport any item prohibited in the UAE.
Budget and mid-range vehicles are permitted 300 km per day and 5,000 km per month; additional mileage is charged at AED 1 per km. Sports and luxury vehicles are permitted 250 km per day and 3,500 km per month; additional mileage is charged at AED 5 per km.
We are not responsible for cash or valuables left or lost inside the vehicle while it was in the hirer’s possession. As a matter of customer service we do keep a lost and found record.
One day of hire means 24 hours. One month of hire means 30 days. A return more than two hours late is calculated as a full additional day.
Where the hirer needs to extend the rental period, the hirer must inform Optimum Car Rental and obtain permission to extend.
Vehicles may be returned between 9:00 and 13:00 and between 17:00 and 22:00, Saturday to Thursday. A charge of AED 200 applies where a vehicle is returned on a Friday or a public holiday. Delivery and collection cannot be carried out during Friday prayer time. If you would like the vehicle collected from you, please call our office two hours before the intended collection time.
In the event of a breakdown, the customer is entitled to a replacement vehicle of the same category.
Delivery and collection are free of charge within a 60 km radius of Dubai International Airport. Delivery charges apply beyond that free-delivery limit.
A security deposit is required to hire a vehicle, taken as a pre-authorization on the customer’s credit card. The blocked amount is released 25 days from the date the vehicle is returned. Optimum Car Rental reserves the right to deduct traffic fines, damage to the vehicle, airport parking fees and outstanding Salik charges from the blocked amount, having first provided evidence to the customer.
All amounts and rates are stated in UAE Dirham. These terms form part of your rental agreement with Optimum Car Rental.
