Accidents and Police Report
A police report is mandatory for accidents. The renter is responsible for the applicable insurance excess and any amounts not covered under the insurance policy. Loss-of-use / rental-loss charges and total-loss liability follow the signed rental agreement and the insurer’s terms.
Insurance Territory
Vehicles are for use within the UAE only. Under RTA guidance, rental companies cannot obtain a tourism certificate for rented vehicles to be driven outside the UAE.
Driver Age and Licence
The driver must meet the minimum age and licence-tenure requirements of the insurer and the rental agreement. Drivers aged 21–25 may be subject to additional liability, and a licence held for more than six months is required for insurance coverage.
Traffic Fines / Administrative Charges
Traffic fines, parking penalties and other authority charges incurred during the rental are chargeable to the renter, together with any approved administration fee stated in the rental agreement.
Salik / Tolls
Salik and other toll charges incurred during the rental are chargeable to the renter at AED 5 per crossing.
Alcohol / Drugs
The renter is responsible for losses, damages and legal consequences arising from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, subject to UAE law and insurer exclusions.
Mechanical / Technical Issues
The renter must notify Optimum immediately and must not carry out unauthorised repairs. Damage or breakdown caused by misuse may be charged to the renter.
Misuse / Off-road / Racing
Vehicles must not be used for racing, rallies, competitions, prohibited off-road use, sub-rental, illegal transport or any activity prohibited by the rental agreement or UAE law.
Mileage
Economy / mid-range: 300 km per day and 5,000 km per month, excess AED 1 per km.
Sports / luxury: 250 km per day and 3,500 km per month, excess AED 5 per km.
Rental Period / Late Return
One rental day is 24 hours and one month is 30 days. A return more than three hours late may be charged as an additional day.
Extension
Any extension must be requested and approved by Optimum before the current rental period expires.
Replacement Vehicle
In the event of a qualifying breakdown, Optimum may provide a replacement vehicle of the same or a similar category, subject to availability and the cause of the breakdown.
Return / Collection
The vehicle must be returned or made available for collection at the agreed time and location. Additional collection, waiting, parking or out-of-area charges may apply where stated in the booking or rental agreement.
Delivery
Free delivery in Dubai. UAE-wide delivery is available, with charges outside the included area as applicable.
Security Deposit
A vehicle-specific security deposit / pre-authorisation is required. Valid fines, tolls, parking, fuel, damage and other contractually permitted charges may be deducted. The deposit is released after the vehicle is returned and cleared of fines.
Lost Property
Optimum is not responsible for valuables left in the vehicle, but lost-and-found items may be recorded and returned where recovered.
Privacy / Documents
Customer identity and licence data is collected only for booking and rental purposes and is handled in accordance with the published Privacy Policy and applicable UAE data-protection requirements.
